TZM is used in the electrical and electronics industry as a target material for high-voltage rectifier components, semiconductor thin-film integrated circuits, cathodes, gates, and CT scanning X-ray tubes.TZM X-ray tubes are used in CT scanning systems. During scanning, the metal disk of the X-ray tube target rotates at a speed of 3,000 ~ 10,000 r/min and the surface temperature exceeds 2,000 °C. TZM alloys are suitable for X-ray tube target production because of their good resistance to high temperatures as well as good corrosion resistance.
TZM alloys are also available in rods, bars, nozzle shapes and other shapes for use in hot runner systems. Molybdenum alloys used in hot runner production include TZM alloys, molybdenum-tungsten alloys and molybdenum rare earth alloys. Of these molybdenum alloys, TZM alloys are the most widely used. This is mainly due to the good thermal conductivity and low coefficient of expansion of TZM alloys, as well as their high strength at high temperatures (1100-1650 °C). In addition, it is easier to machine than tungsten.
TZM alloys are also used in color TVs and stirrers. Stirrers work at high temperatures and have to withstand the relative force between the high temperature impact force and the glass stirring force. Therefore such stirrers should have high temperature resistance and high strength so that they can be used in stirrer production for a long time without deformation or brittle fracture to prepare high-performance products.
